Goals, Purpose and Conception of the Journal
The journal, Comparative Governance and Politics‘ is a decidedly scientific publishing organ that publishes high-quality research results within the field of study. Particular emphasis is placed on sound theoretic foundations of the empirical research results and an appropriate methodological approach. The journal in particular supports innovative contributions and approaches that help promote further research. Thematically, the journal will represent the entire breadth of the field. It will not restrict the topics being discussed nor will it have a certain theoretic, methodological or thematical focus. Thus, the journal is open to all authors in the field of Comparative Politics. In order to ensure a high quality journal and to meet the reputational standards of the community of political scientists, the editors will implement an anonymous peer-review process.
The journal will contain articles in German and English, whereby emphasis will be placed on contributions in German.

Justification
The editor and the publishing house agree that the German-speaking market lacks a Journal
of Political Science that is dedicated mainly to topics of Comparative Politics. As
Comparative Politics is a very comprehensive and fundamental subfield of Political Science
and as it has established itself institutionally as a permanent part of the teaching canon of
German Political Science, the publication of a Journal appears scientifically appropriate and
sensible from the publisher‘s point of view. The Translation of German articles as well as the
acceptance of English-speaking contributions open the journal to international reception and
discussion.
